Classifications provide a way to segment your data, making it easier to visually differentiate records.
For Area Layers, they apply a fill to the geographical area each record covers. For Location layers, they control the Icon used to represent the position of each record.
An example Area Layer without Classifications
Note how each area looks the same and has little meaning to the User.
An example Area Layer with Classifications
Note how much easier it is to differentiate the 'status' of each area and this can be quickly identified by a User.
Examples of how to use Classifications
- Segment customers, for example by 'Prospect', 'Current', 'High-Value' etc.
- Segment stores, for example 'Open', 'Closed', etc.
- Segment franchise territories, for example 'Awarded', 'Resale', 'Under Offer', etc.
