Vision allows you to create radial areas by selecting a starting location and specifying the radial distance.
Prerequisites
- You need to be logged into Vision.
- Your subscription must include Feature Pack 2 or higher.
- You need to have at least one area layer which has been created for radial areas. See here for how to create one.
- You need to have editing permissions.
Estimated time: Up to 5 minutes.
Getting started
Start by making sure you've turned on the radial layer you want to draw a new radial area in. Then, click the 'Actions' button.
In the actions menu, click the 'Create new area' button. This will launch the Search so that you can easily select a starting location.
In the Search bar, enter your location. You can create radial areas from any location returned within the search results. Simply click the green 'Create new radial area' button under the relevant search result to launch the area editor with a default radial distance of 1 mile.
Setting the radius distance
Click the 'Tools' button within the area editor on the right-hand side.
Enter your preferred radial distance and notice how the map updates automatically. When you're done, click the orange 'Back' button in the bottom-right.
Notice how the demographics have been updated to reflect the desired radius. When you've finished, click the 'Continue' button to move to the next step.
Completing the process
Saving your new radial area is easy. Simply give the new area a name, and optionally (if you've set them up), select a classification to assign to the area. When you're finished, click the 'Save' button to complete the process.
Great! You've created your first radial area!
